LARC Picnic April 2, 2016

The spring picnic this year will be at the Lake Parker Park Park. For the new comers, these events are a lot of fun, and a great opportunity to socialize. Take the boat dock entrance, that's the second one on the left, if you are coming from Lakeland Hills Boulevard. We usually get the very last pavilion.

The club will provide the burgers and dogs, condiments, and paper plates. You bring a dish to pass, and something to drink. It goes without saying that families are welcome. Rich and Mike will be there at the crack of dawn to reserve our spot and set up. There will be coffee and donuts before the picnic. Things should break up around 2:00 PM.

Our club radio will be operational, but if you would like to bring one of your own, that is fine too. There is plenty of room. There will also be a fox hunt for those interested.

Here are some images from last year. As you can see, we have a bunch of guys working up an appetite before the picnic.

I Was Feeling Sorry For Myself

It is so cold in the morning. Evenings too. Then I got these photos from my son, also Bill KD0BLZ and his wife Liz KD0GVW who make their home in Littleton, CO. They were taken this afternoon. That's his car, almost in the driveway, and yes, that is his street. Suddenly, things don't seem all that bad. Wearing a sweater in the morning and evening is no big deal. Really. I can live with it.  :-)

Kathleen Historical Society 25th Anniversary

The Kathleen Historical Society is having their 25th Anniversary Celebration this Saturday, March 19. This will be a great opportunity to meet the locals, and promote the club. This event will start at 8 am and go to 2 pm. All LARC members are encouraged to participate, even if it means dropping by for a few minutes. If this is anything like previous years events, there will be a lot to see, eat, and you may even find a good deal on a nick knack or two you can live without. Rich will be there Wednesday to pick a prime location for us, to insure we get a lot of traffic. I look forward to seeing you there.

There will be live entertainment, vendors, silent auction, children's activities, pioneer life exhibit and skills, demonstrations like cane grinding/syrup making, and whip cracking, drawings, southern style vittles, local dignitaries, and More.

March 2016 General Meeting

First, our new hams and upgrades . . .

From left to right, Glenn, Sarah KM4EMT new Extra, Harold W4HKO new extra, Peggy VE Coordinator, Richard, and George.

Left to right, Glenn, James KM4SKR, new Tech, Victor KI4VNH new General, Peggy, Richard, and George.

Happy birthday!
LARC is now 40 years old. Young by most of our standards.

Charging right ahead
Our guest speaker, Tom Ruhlmann W9IPR did an outstanding job with a potentially less than electrifying subject. After his presentation, we are all charged, and ready for portable operation.

Matthew, NPOTA Success In Utah
(and a more understanding encounter of the green uniformed kind)

You can view Matthew's presentation by clicking on the LARC Web Site button in the above menu, then the third item down, Presentations. Great job Matthew.

Almost A Full House
We had 52 attend the meeting this month. That is about average. As you can see, there are a few more seats. All are welcome.
That stranger in the front row is Carl Johnson, N3TJ. :-) Welcome back! We hope to see more of you at future meetings.
